Effects: How is Pollution Effecting Our Animals?

Because of our carelessness, laziness and whatever other excuse we can come up with we make wild animals suffer.  With much of the trash that we throw away animals can eat it and choke on it, get stuck in it and in most cases it kills them.  In situations, toxins can be biomagnified, which means the pollution works up from a plankton all the way to humans and each time it is 10X more concentrated.  The plankton eat something that has toxins in it and the food chain takes over with the toxin moving from animal to animal and getting worse and worse.  Bioaccumulation is the process of the initial toxin in an animal getting stronger through the food chain.  Because of pesticide use and the runoff into waterways animals end up getting sick and in some cases dying because of the contaminated waters.  This was prominent in Oregon in the 1990's, people dumping chemicals into streams and runoff of pecticided ending up in there.
